In a dystopian world where water is scarce, Ida and her elderly mother Lele live underground, locked in their dilapidated house. Begoña’s unexpected visit will not only alter her mother and grandma’s routine, but also detonate what is pushing to get out. Volcano is an intergenerational, dystopian, and Mendocino melodrama which delves into the complex love/hate bond between a mother and her daughter—a bond crossed by a series of events, and caused by the moral mandates of an era, which are revealed throughout the play.
