Synopsis
Roberto, alias “el Chino,” formerly “El diablito,” and before that, “El diablo,” is a child born in one of those dangerous neighborhoods that sprout in many Mexican cities. In the absence of his parents, Roberto has grown up in a menacing world where friends and enemies intertwine.
The deer season has begun, the rifle is loaded, and the whole neighborhood is in sight. How many will survive? Do our circumstances seal our destiny? Circumstances that have become traditions: abandonment, insecurity, fear, the great desire to leave the neighborhood or to find a father, the thirst for blood, and for justice… especially justice served by one’s own hand.

Straight from our Cimientos Play Development Program, IATI Theater presents Temporada de Ciervos, a new play by Mexican playwright Manolo Díaz.
Temporada de Ciervos had its first public reading during Cimientos 2021 Staged Readings Series. We are proud to continue supporting the development of this chilling story through an open workshop presentation at our neighboring theater, Downtown Art!

IATI Theater, as a member of the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, is part of Teatro Fest NYC 2023, a citywide festival of live drama, dance, music, and conversations with Latin artists.
